Quote

Our actions are determined by our beliefs. And our beliefs are shaped by the stories we tell ourselves.

So what happens when the stories we tell ourselves are inaccurate?

The short answer is: we find ourselves engaging in actions that aren't aligned with our best interests.

Charles Eisenstein has made a profession out of studying the intersection of economics and philosophy. And he thinks that over the past several generations, enabled by an unprecedented subsidy of abundant cheap energy, our society has become so far decoupled from natural laws that it has adopted a paradigm of thinking (or "stories") dangerously irrelevant to the future we face.

As resource scarcity increasingly expresses the natural forces that applied to our grandparents' generation and those prior, we are still living under a mindset that assumes predictable, endless growth.

Shermer, Ariely, and now Eisenstein all coming down the same road. Beliefs are the recycled stories in your head. Start with ones that are not factual (nor scientific) and you are in a world of hurt. GIGO.
The answer was 2500 years ago "what exactly is it you know and how do you know that it is true"

The problem is that ya'll are pulling for the sheeple, thus the GIGO lament.

But from the point of view of the sheeple-keepers, it's TICO. That's not a lament, it's a goal: "Trash in, cash out."

He's ignorant of Truth.

Not as deeply asleep as the rest of the population but still asleep enjoying the dream he is awake.

Hyper, when everyone except you is ignorant of "Truth" it is time to examine the stories you tell yourself and examine your social interactions. You know, how many friends you have, whether you have long term meaningful relationships with your parents, spouse, siblings and children.

If you feel superior to others and others don't seem to admire you as much as you feel they should, there might be some questions you need to ask of  that "Truth" you see everyone else is ignorant of like "What it is doing for you?"

I'm not looking for any support at all and need none other than what I currently recieve...

Charles Eisenstein obviously requires way more...So that is why he has to remain ignorant of Truth...or his paychecks dry up.

Just a tip for when you feel you won't jeopardize your giving and taking from the Truth, you could arrange to receive some spelling coaching!
